Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, affectionately and respectfully called Gandhiji, was born on October 02, 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat, India.
Gandhiji became one of the most respected spiritual and political leaders of the 1900’s. He helped liberate the great county of India and its people from the British Empire. Gandhiji achieved this through the implementation of a nonviolent resistance movement.
Even though the liberation of India is unimaginable without Gandhiji, he never held a political office. Nevertheless, in India Gandhiji is honored as the father of the Nation. Indians call Gandhiji “Mahatma”, which means “Great Soul”.
