Helen Adams Keller was born on June 27, 1880 in Tuscumbia, Alabama, U.S.
At age 19, a devastating illness left Keller deaf and blind. Nevertheless, Keller was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree; and she was a prolific author and campaigner for women’s suffrage.
In 1964, Helen Keller was awarded the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom (one of the United States’ highest two civilian honors.)
Like Gandhiji and King, Keller never held a political office yet touched the lives of so many.
I believe that several of you have experienced such inspirational influence from people you never met even once. Please share your experiences so that it will uplift the lives of others too.
