Tolle is one of the most influential spiritual teachers of our times. I read that Tolle does not appreciate being called a “Guru”; otherwise I would’ve referred to him as a great Spiritual Guru.
You should listen to the pearls of wisdom from this great soul! I was so touched and humbled by His words – they direct you inwards. One of His key messages is to “BE” in the present moment.
The essence of some of His teachings reminds me of a fable my grandma used to tell me when I was a kid. The fable goes something like this:
In Pursuit of Peace of Mind:
Once upon a time there was a mighty King. The subjects and courtiers of his prosperous country adored him; the neighboring kings and emperors envied him. He had a beautiful wife and several wonderful children. It appeared that “He had it all”.
So it came as a surprise to everyone when, one day He handed over charge to his Internal Affairs Minister and packed up his suitcase. He announced that He was “going away” for two months on an important mission. Nobody knew what this “mission” was and nobody dared to ask the King!
On the street he met a Sadhu who inquired where His Highness was heading. Reluctantly He replied, “Something’s missing! I don’t know what it is, but I know that if I find it and conquer it, it will give me peace of mind.”
“Are you seeking to find peace of mind?” the Sadhu asked.
“Yes, that is exactly what I want to find – that which will give me Peace of Mind, and I will pursue until I find that.”
“Your Highness, a pursuit is unwarranted because Peace of Mind is already within you”, the Sadhu replied. “You just need to realize that.”
